Cordelia looks shocked,
and Grizz hastily corrects.
"Oops, sorry Miss
Cordelia. I have an awful habit of callin' people by
nicks I just make up. No disrespect intended. I was just
goin' to talk to the guy that opened this place and see
if I couldn't talk him into sprucin' up the exterior a
little. Kinda makes a discordant note in the hood." He
laughs a little ruefully. "I guess I'm not the one to
talk seeing as how I've got all those crates out in fron
of my place. But maybe if I cleaned my place up a
little, this guy would take the hint. 'sworth a shot I
think."

Deladra continues to sit on the edge
of the fountain while playing with the strange tray.
After about an hour or so, hearing all the noise and
banging, she decides to get up and walk around a bit.
Carefully folding the tray, placing it back in her pack,
she gets up and heads over to the Heek store where she
had handed Cordelia the itching powder.
Upon
ariving there, she sees Cordelia out of the corner of
her eye just as another person enters the store as well.
Thinking a moment, she decides to enter the store as
well.
Cordelia, are you in here? Oh, there
you are. I can't seem to find this StellaFlora person at
all. I..seeing Grizz, Deladra stops a moment, shy
again at meeting someone else He..he..hello there.
My name is Deladra.
While Dr. Warrell was fascinated with
the fountain, Speedy was busy checking out the
architecture of the buildings. "Hrm, how
fascinating,... great engineering design!" she muttered
as she took out her handy-dandy camera from her backpack
and began to take pictures. Meanwhile, Grassie was over by another building,
checking out the foundations when he noticed a crack in
one of them. Since ferrets can go into some rather small
cracks, he squirmed into it and found himself on the
ground floor inside. "Wow!" Grassie said in awe at
the stillness of the world inside of the building.
Everything is the way it was left when the gas/disease
hit this region... glasses and plates set up for a meal,
cookware on the counters, charred wood in the
fireplace... Grassie, being the careful ferret he is,
finds the front door and opens it. "Speedy! Dr.
Warrell! I got this building to open! Let's check it
out," he shouted from the door. "Hold on..." Speedy
said as she finished taking a picture. "Speedy, can I
borrow that camera to take some pictures of this
fountain?" asked Dr. Warrell. "Not right now, sorry.
I'm going to bring this inside to check out the house,"
Speedy said as she walked over to the front door where
Grassie stood. "Come and join us," Speedy shouted to Dr.
Warrell. "I'll join you in about 10 minutes then. I
want to try to finish doing something here," Dr. Warrell
said. "Ok," Speedy said as she turned to Grassie.
"How does it look inside?" she asked. "Amazing, come
on and see!" Grassie said as he reentered the house,
with Speedy following. Meanwhile, Dr. Warrell stayed
by the fountain, trying to understand the D'ni water
technology.

What was that? Dr Warrell looks up
apprehensively from the fountain. He is alone now. It is
cold. It is dark. The weak lighting is casting strange
shadows. And he had heard ...
something.
"Well, hi yourself, Deladra. I'm Grizz.
I run the supply store down on the alley by the light
garden. Glad to meet you, and welcome to the hood. I've
heard you have some interesting things to show the
Prof."
Grizz grins at Deladra (not the evil
grin), and winks at
her.

Really, there was no malice
intended when RW approached the individual he had
spotted standing near the fountain. It had been his
intent to meet the several scientists roaming the
cavern. The individual had on a lab coat so RW
automatically assumed it was one of the scientists. The
Scientist was looking off into the darkened area of the
caverns intently, and not wanting to disturb his
concentration, RW approached quietly from behind and
gently tapped the individual on the shoulder.
The reaction could not have been greater if he
had wired the individual into the GZ somehow. The
diminutive man spun around, his mouth wide, as if to
scream, and collapsed head first into the fountain,
soundly hitting his head as he did so.
In a few stunned momments, RW regained
his own composure. "Well, that wasn't quite the
introduction, or reaction, I was hopeing for!" It was
also obvious that if he didn't pull the man's head out
of the water he was going to drown.
It has been
said that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. This
is not quite true, for it was just as RW was bending
over the man that a small, yet very angry ferrot
appeared, launched itself onto RW's shoulder, and buried
it's teeth a full half inch into the base of his neck.
Oh how the caverns did echo!
Cordelia came out of her office and
walked down the stairs to the light garden. All of a
sudden she came to a stop. Something here was different,
but she wasn't quite sure what she was seeing. Then it
dawned on her.
"Oh my goodness, this is a big
improvement" she said out loud "TLG has really smartened
things up - looks like he's making the effort to keep
the hood tidy."
She carries on alongside the
light garden to the D'ni Cavern Supplies to see if Grizz
had any of those nice new deck shoes in stock. Grizz is
standing outside the store with a proud grin on his
face.
"Hey Grizz, you been having a tidy up
too?" she asks, taking in the nice smart sign outside
his emporium. "It's a big improvement, much better than
all those boxes stacked outside, and it looks like
someone's been tidying up inside too." She gives Grizz a
knowing wink and wanders into the store.
"I'm
looking for some of those nice deck shoes that I've seen
other people wearing this Spring, have you got anything
in a nice shade of
green?"

Somewhere in the bottom of the Grand
Canyon, Alan and Charlie have just finished installing a
water feature. Sadly, things get out of hand when Tommy
is unable to finish the rustic dam in time to prevent
disaster.
"Thanks Grizz, that sounds lovely. I'll be
with you very shortly."
She starts trying on
shoes, trying to find the exact shade.
"You
haven't got a mirror, have you - just so that I can see
how they look?" she asks, catching the wry amusement on
Grizz's face.
"Oops, hark at me, I'm beginning to
sound like Miss Veronica Fairchild now....."
"Talking of
whom, I haven't seen her around for a while. How's she
settling in? I hope she's a hard worker."
She
gets up, a pair of olive green deck shoes in her hand,
and wanders over to where Grizz is sitting with the
coffee and Fig Newtons and helps herself.
"By the
way Grizz, you can call me Cordy."

Grizz looks a little alarmed, but he
grins as he shushes Cordelia though, and says. "I like
your laugh, Cordy. But Veronica is sleeping in there,
and I'd like to let her sleep as long as I can. Poor
kid. She's all worn out. I see something in her. I think
she's gonna work out fine
here."
